Rare Beauty All of the Above Weightless Eyeshadow Stick Review

Rare Beauty All of the Above Weightless Eyeshadow Stick Review

The All of the Above Shadow Sticks are one of the latest launches from Rare Beauty. As a one-and-done eyeshadow fan, I have been putting two of them to the test. Here’s how it went!

I’ve been using Rare Beauty’s products for a few years, and I love many things I’ve tried from their portfolio. So, I immediately knew I had to try these when I saw Rare Beauty’s post on social media showing their All of the Above Weightless Eyeshadow Sticks.

Luckily, they were already available at my local Sephora, and I managed to buy two shades - before word of mouth started to spread, and these became sold out.

I immediately added the shades Well-being (soft pink) and Integrity (champagne) to my cart and placed the order, as I am a big fan of these hues.

Once these arrived, I was immediately wowed by them. The cream formula comes in a stick, and the package resembles a sleek marker. Each shade has a built-in sharpener at the bottom - you must remove the lid.

So far, so good!

What does the brand say about this product?

According to Rare Beauty’s website, the All of the Above Weightless Eyeshadow Stick is a super creamy do-it-all eyeshadow stick. That makes it easy to line, shade, smoke out, and highlight eyes all in one. Complete with a built-in sharpener.

This product is named “all of the above” because it can be used as an eyeshadow, eyeliner, and highlighter. You can use it to line lids directly with the precision tip, blend out for all-over color, or highlight the inner corners of the eyes.

Available in 6 different shades, it has a rich and weightless formula that melts instantly into skin and blends, builds, and layers seamlessly.

Each shade contains ultra-fine, multidimensional pearls that shimmer and glow from every angle.

They mention that the formula is water-resistant and lasts all day with fade-proof, transfer-proof, and crease-resistant colors.

First impressions

The first time I tried these was on the same day I took these photos. Sometimes, I have products standing untouched in my office for weeks because I prefer to photograph these in mint condition. This means before I swatch or start using these.

And the first impressions were excellent. The shades look even better on skin than on the pan, and I was immediately surprised by how creamy these were and how these glided on the back of my hand.

Putting these eyeshadows to the test

OK, if I was already amazed by what I saw during the photo shoot, but plenty of times, cream eyeshadows don’t perform as well when applied to the eyelids.

I have combination skin, and my eyelids are more on the greasier side. Plus, it’s August, and I am putting these eyeshadows to the test during one (of the many) heatwaves that Madrid has been through this Summer (it’s 39 ºC outside). So, this product tends to melt and fade after a few hours.

I’ve started by applying the Integrity shade all over my right eyelid. The sharp tip felt incredibly comfortable when using the product directly on my lid, but it was so creamy that it broke soon afterward. And the same happened when I tried to apply the Well-being shade on my left eyelid.

I know, it’s a bummer. But, given the scorching temperatures outside (and inside my makeup room), I am not giving much thought to this particular event when reviewing this product. Because I feel it’s something perfectly normal, given the weather conditions.

Even though I could have sharpened it in a few seconds, I kept applying it with a now flat tip, and it worked perfectly fine. I’ve used a regular eyeshadow brush to blend it out all over the lid, on the crease, and over the crease.

The formula was super easy to work with. I must say, it was easier than any other cream or liquid eyeshadow I’ve ever used. It blended out smoothly and evenly, leaving no patches or chunks of product. The shimmer on these shadows is so beautiful and elegant, which makes these eyeshadows perfect for a day-to-evening look. It has a similar finish to the one from RMS Beauty Eyelights’s

I wish I had tried these eyeshadows before writing my post on one-and-done eyeshadows because it would definitely be part of the list.

Now, how well did these perform throughout the day? Incredibly well. These have exceeded my expectations. For example, when I create an office eye look with my KVD Beauty Dazzle Stick, I usually apply another coat after my lunch break to get through the rest of the day. But it wasn’t necessary!

I’ve noticed that these have faded right on the crease line (which is perfectly normal), but other than that, my eye makeup looked acceptable.

Please remember I've worn these for over 12 hours on one of the year's warmest days. So, these eyeshadow sticks from Rare Beauty are quite something.

Applying these with an eyeshadow primer

Even though I was pleasantly surprised with the performance of these eyeshadows by themselves, I wanted to check how they performed using a thin layer of eyeshadow primer underneath.

I’ve tried different eyeshadow primer formulas in each lid. In one, my beloved one from Fenty Beauty, and in the other one, the renowned Eyeshadow Primer Potion from Urban Decay.

Regarding the eyeshadow application, I haven’t noticed much difference when applying or blending the formula all over my eyelids with a standard brush. And the eye makeup result looks as good as when I used no primer.

About 12 hours after applying my makeup (on another nearly 40 ºC day), the eyeshadows looked as good as when I tried these without an eyeshadow primer. I’ve noticed that these haven’t rubbed out as much on the crease line, but that would be the only difference.

Layering different shades

One of the things that caught my attention the most about this product was that we could layer different shades, which is something unusual in this kind of formula - as the product on top usually messes up the one underneath.

So, even though my two shades are very low-key and neutral, I decided to lay one on top of the other to see what happened.

And surprisingly, these performed better than I thought. The shades were easy to spot, and the eyelids still looked good.

I wasn’t aware of this product feature when I placed my order. Otherwise, I would have also picked a darker shade to create a more dynamic look.

Overall experience

I dare say that this product has surprised me the most this year (so far), and I’ve also found some other incredible makeup gems. But this product is just A+++. I’m serious!

Rare Beauty’s All of the Above Weightless Eyeshadow Sticks just gave me the best experience I’ve ever had with a cream eyeshadow formula. Both in terms of application, durability, and finish.

These eyeshadows are so incredibly easy to work with that even a makeup newbie can get an outstanding result. Seriously! Plus, they look so flawless and elegant that one can easily use them for a day-to-night look or even a special occasion (like a wedding).

Even though I love my cream eyeshadow from KVD Beauty, the result I get with Rare Beauty is way more refined. Perfect for when I have important meetings and little time before my work commute.

Also, when comparing these with similar eyeshadows in the market (at a higher price point, like Lancôme or Bobbi Brown), the ones from Rare Beauty have a better performance overall.

For me, a solid 10/10!
